GLIMPSES IN THE TWILIGHT
True-Life Ghost Stories and Modern-Day Urban Legends
From the Haunted Heart of Merseyside
By LEE WALKER
I had the pleasure of meeting Lee and listening to him talk
about some of his stories when he was a speaker at the 2015 Weird Weekend,
which is hosted by the Centre for Fortean Zoology and was held in my home
village of Hartland in North Devon. It was on the back of listening to Lee
speak and having time to chat with him that weekend, that inspired me to
purchase this book.
Having had an interest in all things paranormal, Fortean or
just outside the box, for all my life, anything like this grabs my attention.
But, one for the things about this book which really peeked my interest was the
inclusion of a new story about Spring-heeled Jack, The bizarre figure who was
seen across the country during the Mid to late 1800’s and into the very early
years of the 1900’s.
So, I began my foray into this twenty-one chapter, three-hundred
plus page book with a high expectation.
This book, as the sub-title says, a conglomeration of
stories that Lee has collected over the
years and brought together here in a style that will have you not wanting to
put it down regardless of where your thoughts on the subject matter lie.
Why will you not want to put this book down? Simply put, Lee
has a style of writing that drags you into each chapter. He writes in such a
way as to be so descriptive in his telling of each tale that you can’t help
but, occasionally close your eyes and picture the scene he lays out before you.
I actually found myself reading slower than normal because my mind was
following the story in visuals. As each story unfolded I felt I was there with
the characters or even walking along side Lee on a wet and windy Merseyside day
or feeling the shock and panic of the day 96 people fell at a football match
and from which Lee was one of those to walk away but, never to forget.
You may not believe in Ghost’s or UFO’s or even cursed
objects and weirdly dressed paranormal entities whom can jump huge distances
and who ooze evil. But, I would urge you to read this book because it is
entertaining, wonderfully written and may just, yes it might just make you stop
and think that there is so much we do not understand about the world around us
and what might live in the shadows beyond what we can see with our own eyes or
within the mysteries of our dreams.
I could tell you about what you will read in each chapter
and give you some quotes from the book it’s self but, I want you to read this
book without not knowing exactly what to expect but, you will find a brief
foray into Lee’s past and his love of Horror novels by the likes of Guy N.
Smith and the late great master of horror James Herbert. You will find you are
confined to one or other side of the thin veil between worlds or dimensions. In
fact what does appear to be a fact on the Merseyside is that no matter which
side of the veil you walk, “You’ll never walk alone?”
I don’t have anything to say in the negative about this
book. But, I would say that the addition of a Chapter listing would have been a
major plus to the book but, it does not detract from just how much this book is
a great read.
So, please get a copy and sit back with a hot cup of tea or
coffee, and maybe some ginger nuts, turn the lights down a bit and drift off in
to a world that is not as far away as you might think.

BEYOND THE FEAR – The Alien Equation
By Erica Goetsch
Review by Steve Rider
Beyond the Fear is a book written by the experiencer, Erica
Goetsch, and centres on her own experiences of apparent contact with other
worldly beings.
In the book Erica details, in her own words, her experiences.
These stretch back to childhood encounters in early 1970’s Iowa to the present.
She explains how her search for answers during her teenage years allowed Drugs
and Satanism into her life at that point. The negativity leads to a suicidal
event and a turning point.
Erica experienced flashbacks and an eventual spiritual
awakening that changed her outlook on her encounters. She chose to undergo
regression hypnosis to unlock her encounters and to help her to understand what
had been happening to her.
The experiences that Erica has had over the years range from
those that could be termed Paranormal to what is usually looked on as Alien
Abduction or Contactee type experiences. She has experienced a Mass UFO sighting
and Abduction scenarios with multiple witnesses and has encountered different
types of beings, including MIB’s, Shadow Beings and a variety of Alien
otherworldly beings. She has also met with a being she feels is her own Hybrid
Child.
Erica was also given a mysterious Alien Equation. The
specifics of this remain a mystery at this time but, could well reveal its
meaning as she continues on her journey.
Within Beyond the Fear, Erica also gives voice to many
others who have had amazing experiences and who might never have had their
stories told were it not for inclusion in this book or the internet.
Beyond the Fear is a self written and self published book.
It might have a few errors here and there and the type set may not be as
polished as the more famous books about the more famous cases. But, does this
make it any less important or interesting as a book?
Not in my view. I found the book to be engaging and with
just enough information to keep me reading until the last page. I wanted to
know more detail of the encounters and the other interesting experiences. What was also just as interesting for me was
the little things about ridicule, Implants and human values and so on but, also
about letting go of the fear and living the message. Here I found a profound
message that has been given by others who have experienced spiritual awakenings
in many other ways.
The book left me wanting to more and I would like to hear
more about Erica’s encounters and experiences in the future and I am very
thankful for her kindness in sending me this book.
Beyond the Fear – The Alien Equation is available from Erica
at http://ericagoetsch.blogspot.com/ or Amazon. You can also contact Erica on Facebook. I would
suggest you get your own copy of the book and make your own mind up about this
fascinating story, you won’t be disappointed.

2016 – Update:
I decided to add a small update to this review now it is
being uploaded to my Blog.
Since I wrote the original review, I understand that Erica
may be rewriting the book for later publication in an expanded form.
Therefore copies of the original book may very well be hard
to come by. So, if you are able to get your hands on one, then do it.
What has been obvious is the continuous personal attacks
that seem to follow those whom chose to tell their story, has featured in Erica’s
life. It has lead her to question whether to talk more on this subject or not.
‘Experiencers’ are not all mentally unstable, weird or nutjobs. Many are sane individuals and they
believe they have experienced something life changing. Now that may have been
experienced in our reality or perhaps another reality or dimension. But, they
have a story to tell and should be given time to tell that story without being
ridiculed or judged.
I feel that as we all move forward in our lives on this
planet, especially at this time which is filled with so much pain and suffering
within human kind and the animal kingdom and is perpetrated by many ‘so called’
evolved humans who feel it is ok to kill animals for sport and pleasure, to
wage war as war is big business and to allow companies to destroy sacred sites
to build whatever. It is the spiritual and environmental sides of these contact
stories that could well help provide a key to unlock the door to a better more peaceful
future here on earth.
